Bill Newell, CAO – Regional District Okanagan Similkameen
“The RDOS has received $50,000 from MCSCD, Local Government Structures Division, to fund a Governance Study for Electoral Area D. The geographic area under study is all of electoral area “D”. The next step is for Director Siddon to nominate citizens to form a Governance Committee, which we believe will come to the Board June 18th for consideration. The Province is going to provide a terms of reference for the committee.
Once formed, the Committee will receive an orientation from the Province, and then they’ll work with RDOS to develop a request for proposal to recruit a governance consultant to conduct the study. The committee will be the point of contact for the consultant. The Regional District role is to provide oversight on the financials and support for the Committee. The study will come to the Board for consideration.”
Earlier:
Tom Siddon – in May “It is timely that the Ministry of Communities, Sport and Culture has now approved, and allocated funding for a comprehensive Governance Study of Okanagan Falls and vicinity. The study will be carried out over the next 12-18 months. It could encompass some of the nearby communities at this stage. Terms of Reference for the study are now being established by the Ministry, in consultation with
our CAO Mr. Bill Newell, and my office. We are presently discussing the composition of the Governance advisory committee, the extent of the study area, and selection of the project consultants. Public consultations are expected to get underway by early September.
