Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for:
•North Okanagan – including Vernon
Updated or ended by 5:46 p.m. PDT.
At 3:13 p.m. PDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts, up to penny size hail and heavy rain.
A line of severe thunderstorms is moving across Oyama and Vernon. These storms have the potential to produce heavy downpour with 15 mm per hour.
Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Fast moving water across a road can sweep a vehicle away. Avoid driving through water on roads. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required. Please monitor local media or Weatheradio. To report severe weather, send an email to pacificstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports to #BCStorm.
