Oliver Parks Manager Carol Sheridan points to large fields that needs a new fully automated irrigation system. Sheridan says the various systems were built over time, have pressure problems and need to be tuned manually. The society has paid for a $7500 assessment of irrigation in all parks. Next step is to work on the main community park with ‘as built’ drawings of both pipes and wiring before proceeding on a phased “re do”.
Vandalism at the spray park earlier this year had two affects. The location is missing one of its cannons (shown top) and a simpler volcano (shown bottom) installed in place.
Parks Manager Sheridan says staff will now do a more comprehensive dismantling of the system at the end of the season to prevent such damage. Vandals had taken a metal saw and totally cut off the arm of the cannon. Maintenance workers Norm Card holds up the non functioning cannon.
