Many thanks from the Order of the ‘Eastern Star to ODN for promoting our hot dog sale, to Oliver Super Valu and manager Norm, for use of BBQ, gas and table and to the people of Oliver who bought our hot dogs.  The funds raised through this event will benefit one of the graduating students at SOSS in the form of a bursary.  All money raised through our monthly BBQ’s goes back into the community or to Cancer related projects.

Our next BBQ is to be held at Buy Low on Friday June 12th, 10.00-2.00pm and proceeds go towards the Cancer Car.  Readers have probably seen the Cancer Car driving round town.  It is a free service, sponsored by the Freemasons of B.C. and is driven by volunteer drivers.  It takes cancer patients up to the Kelowna Cancer Lodge five days a week and returns them home, after their treatment.  The cars and vans are purchased, serviced and fueled by the Freemasons and are available, to any person attending the Cancer Clinic.  The service is arranged through the Cancer Lodge and they must be contacted to arrange transportation.
