Morning Star Rd area – Oliver
Local lady walking her dog on the weekend comes across her pet sniffing at the ground only to find cut up wieners with evidence of medication inside. Neighbours discuss – RCMP called.
Neighbour sends email to ODN asking that she not be identified based on a fear of retaliation:
“The RCMP suggested that I go public regarding this very unsettling incident but I’m not sure how to do it without getting my name into the story. I’m very concerned about my security as the person responsible is unknown and I fear retaliation. Would you be able to write it as a news item….. RCMP officers suggested that I should contact the news outlets regarding pieces of wiener that had medication inserted into them that I found near my home while walking my dog last Sunday afternoon. They felt that a warning should be issued as a precaution to others who walk their dogs this way as the person responsible is unknown and therefore further action cannot be taken against them. Nearly everyone around me has very much loved dogs and usually all walk on the side of the street where they were found. I am very hesitant to have my name published for security reasons but if you could insert this warning in the Oliver Daily News it would be much appreciated. Before the RCMP collected the pieces I took some photos of them that could be added to the story”
We verified the story with neighbours and approached the RCMP but got no response so far.
A general warning to dog walkers in the Morningstar area (Court and Road) of Rockcliffe.
