It is with sadness that we inform you of Comrade Bud Alcorn’s passing on Tuesday, April 21st. Comrade Alcorn was a Past BC/Yukon Command President (2003-05).
Comrade Alcorn first joined the Legion in Montreal, and was a member of the Executive of Greenfield Park Branch #94. After 22 years in Montreal, part of it as Superintendent of Customs for Montreal Harbour and then Dorval Airport he was transferred to Canada Customs and Immigration in White Rock, then Prince Rupert and finally Osoyoos. Comrade Bud Alcorn retired in 1991, after 39 years with Customs and Immigration.
Everywhere Comrade Alcorn went, he joined the local Legion Branch. He served as Branch President in White Rock, a member of the Executive in Prince Rupert, and, in South Okanagan & Similkameen Zone as Deputy Zone Commander, Zone Commander, BC/Yukon Command 1st Vice-President and Command President. Along the way Comrade Alcorn chaired many committees at every level.
In addition, he had served on the Board of Governors of the Okanagan University College, was a Past President and Life Member of the Osoyoos Chamber of Commerce, and of the Heart and Stroke Foundation, and, was a member of the Osoyoos Credit Union Board.
