Kelowna – Suspicious package left in Sears at Orchard Park Mall.

There are protocols and procedures in place to deal with incidents of this nature and those were activated. Working with our emergency partners, we took the necessary precautionary steps to ensure the ongoing safety of the mall and its clients.

On April 15, 2015 an employee of Sears found a suspicious package in their store and immediately contacted mall security and Police.

Police can confirm that a suspicious package has been located and the RCMP Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU) attended at the Mall. The suspicious package was examined and destroyed. An extensive search of Sears as well as a careful examination of the entire mall was conducted and no other devices were located. The investigation remains ongoing.

Kelowna RCMP is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the person in the photos.

The suspect is described as:

· Caucasian

· 5’9 – 6’0 (175 cm to 182 cm)

· Average build

· Wearing glasses

· Dark jacket

· Dark baseball cap with white lettering on the front

· Dark backpack
