Sidewalks and Easter
What does a sidewalk have to do with Easter? There is a connection. One man observed a neighbor using a pressure washer to clean the sidewalk around his house. His own sidewalk was only 2 feet away. He did not realize how dirty his own sidewalk was until he saw his neighbor’s clean one. Now he was keenly aware of the contrast. This motivated him to action. Within days he bought a pressure washer and went to work.
What a difference!
Isn’t it often that way with ourselves. We don’t think that what we are doing is that bad. It’s only a small transgression. Who cares? No big deal. We can always think of someone who is worse than we are. It isn’t until we come across someone with consistent integrity and love that we realize how unkind our actions really were. It is a big deal! More importantly, how will we fare when we stand in the presence a holy God? The good news is that He has prepared a really great deal for us. He has offered to pay for our sin and give us His righteousness in exchange if we are willing to admit that we need it and humble ourselves enough to ask for it. It’s a huge gift!! It’s free! That offer is available because of Christ dying on the cross.
Easter. “All we like sheep have gone astray. We have turned every one to his own way and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” Isaiah 53:6
Keeping on the sunny side,
