AlleyCATS Alliance is pleading with the public for assistance with a rather sensitive situation. In 2013, approximately 12 feral cats were trapped, spayed, neutered, and released back to the Penticton property on which they lived by AlleyCATS Alliance as part of a grant-funded TNR (trap neuter release) Program. They have since been under the care of a kind-hearted, cat-loving senior couple who have been providing them with food daily, as well as a warm, safe place to call home in their garage. The herd of cats have been well loved and would have continued on this way had both caretakers recently not passed away within months of one another. Family members of the wonderful couple are continuing to feed the cats daily, but the home in which they lived is now up for sale, and may sell soon. This will leave the cats evicted from the garage – or worse – if something isn’t done right away.
AlleyCATS Alliance is looking for suitable barn homes for pairs or groups of these beautiful cats to allow them to live out the rest of their lives in peace. New landlords would be required to provide safe, warm shelter in their barn as well as daily provisions of food and water. The cats, in turn, will provide companionship, entertainment, and relief from pesky rodents.
Opportunities will also be provided for any cat rescuers out there who wish to learn the fine art of Cat Trapping. Trapping times will for this project will double as Cat Trapping Clinics in the hopes that a new team of Cat Trapping Experts will be raised up to help with future AlleyCATS Alliance TNR projects.
Anyone interested in learning to be a cat trapper, and anyone willing and able to give a good home to one of these precious furry creatures is asked to call December at 250-488-2223 and leave a detailed message.
