On March 23rd, 2015 at 10:15AM, the Oliver RCMP received a report of wires down over the alleyway next to 425 Similkameen Ave., in Oliver. According to a witness, a garbage truck struck the wires overhead causing them to break and hang low. The driver of the truck reportedly stopped and reported the matter to his office but then continued on his way. Police and Fire personnel attended confirming that the wires were not causing a fire hazard. Minimal damage was caused to the lines. Police secured the scene while electrical and cable companies attended to repair the damage.
