Heavy snow is expected tonight.
A strong front over Washington state combined with lowering freezing levels will result in snow over the high elevation passes of the Southern B.C. Interior tonight. Total snowfall amounts of 10 to 20 cm can be expected for the Coquihalla Summit and Pennask Summit and 20 to 30 cm for Kootenay Pass and Allison Pass by Monday morning.

Highway 3 is closed in both directions for avalanche control on the Kootenay Pass.
The affected area is a 27-kilometre stretch west of Creston.
The road will be closed from 7-9 a.m., and an alternate route is available from Nelson to Creston via Highway 3A on the Kootenay lake Ferry.
