Fire this afternoon at 1080 Morningstar Rd in Rockcliffe Oliver.
The scene at what appears to be a small renovation job site when a small fire erupted and help was called for around 1:53 pm.
Fire Chief Dan Skaros says it appears that a spark from an energized wire may have cause the blaze. Skaros indicated there was some serious damage inside the house.
Neighbours told ODN that the owners were not present but a carpenter was spotted clearing some of the mess from the side of the house.
This is the way Global Okanagan reported it: “Fire crews were called to a home on Morningstar Rd, after smoke was seen coming from the roof.
Fortis had to be summoned to the home to shut off the power before firefighters could get to work, but once they attacked the flames, they were able to quickly suppress them.
Damages to the home were minimal, but some repairs will be needed.
Early indications are that the home owner was doing some renovation work, which caused an electrical spark.
No one was injured in the blaze.”
