Kelowna – Police are issuing a warning and asking for public assistance in identifying a suspect after an unknown male allegedly attempted to lure a young boy on Thursday afternoon.
On February 26, 2015 at about 2:30 pm, a 10-year-old Kelowna boy was approached by an unknown male while he was riding his scooter on the path in the vicinity of Gramiak Road and Mary Court. The suspect asked the boy if he wanted to talk and stated his house was just down the street. The boy ignored him and the man asked if they could meet later. The man is believed to have been seen in the area of the Springvalley Schools earlier that day. He was last seen heading eastbound on Saskatoon Road.
Police received the report the following day, and their efforts continue in order to identify and locate the suspect.
The suspect is described as:
- Caucasian male;
- 40-50 years;
- Thin build;
- Greying moustache.
He was last seen wearing:
- A long navy blue or black jacket;
- Black jeans;
- Toque;
- Sunglasses;
- Gloves.
Children are urged to stay aware of their surroundings and to employ the buddy system for their own safety.
