The boys and girls* played their hearts out, won the first one, lost three in a row, rallied back for a win against Nova Scotia, and our final game against New Brunswick was a nail biter to the final second — such an exciting game, but we lost by one point. Team BC wheelchair basketball placed 7th out of 9 teams, but considering their star shooter had a medical emergency the day before the competitions started and they didn’t have time to activate their spare, they played really well and had a great experience overall.
The gold medal game between Quebec and Saskatchewan was absolutely amazing, the score was very tight all the way through the game, but Quebec took the Gold in the end. Interesting to note that since wc basketball was introduced to the Canada Winter Games (I think around 1995?), they’ve never lost a game in a tournament, and the CWG are every four years. So they had a strong motivation to win :) Anyways, it was a wonderful experience for the athletes of Team BC and its a great introduction to competitive sports for the junior athletes.
