Over a 100 people crammed into a tight Legion Hall Sunday afternoon to hear the latest on a criminal investigation into threats at a number of class facilities in School Districts
67 and 53.
Meeting attended by school officials, RCMP, parents, members of the public and the media.
“Vigilance not paranoia is needed here” said Superintendent Kevin Hewco.
“We need your help – you child might know something” – S/Sgt. Kurt Lozinki
In a nutshell – on Wednesday night letters distributed to four school – 3 in Penticton threatening harm.
All leads investigated – no result – no arrests.
Hewco who lives in Okanagan Falls says he promises a police presence in each of the four schools next week and wants those officers to engage with the children to ease any anxiety.

School District 53 Superintendent Bev Young says – classes as usual on Monday and it is best if all classes resume and get back to normal as quickly as possible.
Parents however expressed concern that not enough was being done – calling for block watch, adult/parent supervision and an increased presence by RCMP.
Superintendent Hewco made a plea to the perpetrator – phone police, turn yourself in – we want to help.
All park and recreation programs at the Okanagan Falls Elementary have been cancelled for a week and the morning breakfast programme will be impacted by tighter security.
But the bell will ring at 8:25 Monday morning and classes will start and all students will be advised by a homeroom teacher as to what is really going on.
