Threatening School Letter Released by RCMP
Penticton RCMP have released a threatening letter that was found at Penticton schools today in the hopes of information leading to the individual involved. The letter indicated harm was meant toward students at Okanagan Falls Elementary School as well as Penticton Secondary School.
School District 67 issued the following release:
This morning students and staff at Skaha Lake Middle School and Princess Margaret Secondary School found photocopies of an anonymous letter threatening harm to students located at OK Falls Elementary School and Penticton Secondary School. As per our Community Threat Assessment Protocol, we are cooperating with the RCMP and relevant agencies to ensure the safety of our students and staff and to identify the threat maker.
Today there have been RCMP members located at several schools in the district. They stayed on site for the remainder of the school day. Schools locked exterior doors, with the exception of the main entrance, which is being monitored. Staff at the schools has been briefed.
There are several other RCMP members working to identify the source of the correspondence. This is a serious situation and we hope through our collaborative response we will be able to identify the individual responsible.
