From February 11 through to February 14, 2015 the Anarchist Mountain area just east of Osoyoos was subject to a crime spree resulting in the theft of two ATV’s, the attempted theft of a UTV and the attempted break and enter to a residence. As well, a utility trailer was stolen from 62nd Avenue. The subjects involved in these crimes damaged property gates to gain access to some of the properties. On February 14, the two ATV’s, a 2012 Honda and 2013 Honda as well as the stolen trailer were located in Kamloops, BC. 21 year old Waylon Faulhafer who is known to frequent Osoyoos and a 26 year old male from Kamloops have been arrested after being found in possession of the stolen atv’s and trailer. Faulhafer who is well known to police in the South Okanagan was held in custody for court on February 16 in Kamloops. He is charged with possession of stolen property over $5000. The second male will appear in court on February 21. He is facing the same charges.
On February 16, 2015, the Osoyoos RCMP executed a search warrant on a residence located at 9418 97th Street. The Osoyoos RCMP had been investigating ongoing drug activity at the residence, a mobile home directly behind the old Suzie Q Diner which culminated with the search warrant. A coordinated search involving 8 police officers from the Osoyoos RCMP, the South East District Roving Patrol Unit and the South East District Regional General Investigation Section resulted in the seizure of marihuana, psilocybin mushrooms, morphine and drug paraphernalia used in the trafficking of illicit drugs. A 53 year old male, with a history of drug trafficking was arrested at the scene and faces charges of trafficking controlled substances. No other persons were present at the time of the search. The Osoyoos RCMP are continuing their investigation.
