Following a successful rally by over 1,200 B.C. resident hunters last weekend – letters and a signed petition were delivered to the Premier Christy Clark’s MLA office Thursday.
A large plastic storage bin containing 740 letters penned for the premier, along with a 1,025 name petition protesting the recent reallocation of hunting permits in the province were dropped off.
The premier was not in her office to collect the letters.
When asked about the issue Clark said we need to put it into context.
“We are talking about a dispute over 110 animals,” said Clark. “We support British Columbian’s rights to hunt in this province. Wildlife resources belong to all of us and we want to make sure resident hunters have access to that…that is a very important principle. At the same time, we want to make sure all those family-owned business, many of which are in some very remote rural communities, have a chance to survive.
