Northern Hawk Owl.  It is a Northern B.C. breeder, but rare in the Southern part of the province. Rarely visits, only in the winter.  It is a diurnal owl ( hunts during daylight hours) as opposed to its more nocturnal cousins. This one was up Anarchist Mountain off  Highway 3 near Regal Ridge Estates. Photographer Thor Manson
