Thursday – The Hornets won their 4th game in a row with a solid victory over a Keremeos. SOSS started fast as they jumped out to an early 18 point lead in the 1st quarter 28-10. They extended the lead to 20 at the half 44-24. In second half the Hornets pushed the lead to as much as 30 points, thus allowing the bench to get some quality time. SOSS won all four quarters enroute to a 69-46 victory. The team was led by Austin Basso with 17 points. Raj Bahniwal posted his second double with 16 points and 13 boards. Gurshan Dhaliwal poured in 14 as well. The Hornets improved their record to 18-12 overall.
They will have the weekend off which will give key players like Blake Miller Yuckin and Kulbir Grewal a chance to heal their injuries. All in all the Hornets are starting to show much promise especially with the fast start in the game.
The Hornets will be at Maggie next week to play against Kalamalka, and Kelowna Christian on Friday. They will finish the weekend playing against #7 ranked Valleyview of Kamloops. The Hornets are currently ranked 10th and on Wednesday night with their win over Summerland they earned the right to host the playoff games on Feb 11-12th. A reminder to the players start evaluating your play and lets look to work on what can make you and the team better.
Wednesday – SOSS won their 3rd straight game versus Summerland 79-63. It was a hard fought win for the Hornets in the always tough Summerland secondary gym. Summerland jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter however the Hornets closed it quickly as they led 26-21 at the end of the first. SOSS pushed the lead to 10 at half 39-29. The Hornets continued to play well in the second as they ended up winning the game 79-63. Austin Basso led the team with 24, followed by Kulbir Grewal who added 23. Both Raj Bahniwal and Gurshan Dhaliwal had double-doubles. Raj had 12 points and 14 rebound and Gurshan Dhaliwal had 14 points and 10 boards. SOSS got some quality play out of Brett Harrington, Manvir Brar, and Jasdeep Sandhu. The team is slowly cleaning up their errors.
