Town of Oliver has agreed to a grant in aid of up to $1000 to help with an assessment of a number of buildings on the former Haynes/Leir ranch property at Rd 22.
Dave Mattes representing the Haynes Ranch Preservation Committee is rounding up partners to help with the project. If sufficient funds raised and the study complete – the committee will apply for grants to protect the structural integrity. The committee will appeal to Osoyoos and the two rural areas of the RDOS that are adjacent to the buildings for similar grants in aid.
Town Council and RDOS Director Terry Schafer have agreed to fund a re-cycling depot at the Oliver Landfill – this being in addition to services offered by the T2 Market on Sawmill Rd. The additional cost thought to be relatively minor while providing flexibility for the future. The facility will cost $23 thousand resulting in a net loss of about $2000 annually will be shared by both the Town and rural area.
The question of bylaw enforcement on a complaint of a tandem truck cab parked in a residential area – council will review how the enforcement/complaint policy is laid out but told staff to enforce the bylaw and issue a ticket. Location 1021 Morningstar Rd.
Council will seek a grant to help with funding an Asset Management Plan – such a plan necessary in obtaining capital grants for new and existing infrastructure.

Council decided to forward this matter to the Agriculture Land Commission with no comment. The future of the land for development rests in the hands of this provincial body. This low lying land in a flood plain currently sits in the jurisdiction of the RDOS.
Owners of property at 915 Bulrush Rd (James and Cathy Hodge) in Oliver at Tuc-el-nuit appeared before council to discuss a plan for a subdivision of campsite land into ten lots. Discussion was limited to technical matters as a complete public input process follows a formal application to the Corporation.
