I grew up in Oliver, graduated from SOSS and raised my family here. My parents, Jack and Trudy Demorest, were both small business people in town and I feel that small business is an integral piece of a community. I have always been an active community member and I currently serve as a member on the board for the Desert Valley Hospice Society. Prior to moving to the Sunshine Coast in 2008, I served 6 years as a Trustee on the Board of Education for School District 53. When I make the move back to town next month, I look forward to getting more involved in Oliver’s community events.
Professionally, I have always been customer service focussed. I have approximately 15 years of experience in various jobs in the financial industry and have about 10 years of human resources experience. I received my Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation in 2010 which is something I am very proud to have achieved. Combining the skills and knowledge I have gained through education and experience has led me to managing the RBC branch here in Oliver. I love seeing others succeed and if I can help people, even in a little way, to succeed then I feel like I am contributing and making a difference. I couldn’t be happier to be back in my hometown and seeing many familiar faces and getting to know new ones. My journey has come full circle and I can honestly say that you truly don’t know what you have until it’s gone. Leaving the Town of Oliver and then returning years later has solidified the fact that we have a great town here and there is no place like home.
