An 18-year-old Penticton woman was airlifted to Kelowna General Hospital Thursday after a head-on collision south of Okanagan Falls.
The young woman behind the wheel of a northbound older model Mazda on Highway 97 collided with an oncoming 2015 Kia near Weyerhaeuser Road at Alba St. at 3:18 pm.
RCMP said that 1999 Mazda crossed the centre line.
Okanagan Falls Volunteer Fire Department using the Jaws of Life got the young lady out of her car and her injuries aren’t believed to be life-threatening.
The occupants of the other vehicle, a 59-year-old woman and her 90-year-old father, both from Osoyoos, were taken to Penticton Regional Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
From Infotel Penticton: “Witnesses say the car had passed two other vehicles prior to the collision.
Roads were in good condition, and visibility was good.
The 18 year old female driver of the Mazda was airlifted to Kelowna General with broken ankles, cuts and lacerations.
The driver of the Kia was transported to Penticton Regional Hospital for x-rays, while the other occupant of the vehicle, a 90 year old male, suffered a cut finger.”
Alcohol and drugs aren’t believed to have been a factor in the crash.
