A significant number of students did not attend classes at Similkameen Elementary-Secondary School (SESS) Monday.
One reason – no school buses running.
Cate Turner – principal says the call was made to not have regular pick-up runs Monday with 2 feet of snow making it difficult to get the buses out of the Keremeos garage.
*70 students out of a school population of 285 attended classes. Most of those who did live within walking distance.
All teachers showed up but 7 of 31 released at noon because of driving conditions to their homes and the low attendance.
Bev Young – Superintendent (School District #53) says numbers are still coming in on attendance Monday during snow storm in South Okanagan/Similkameen.
All schools were open unlike those in Kelowna and Vernon.
The district will announce in the morning what will happen in the district Tuesday due to all the unknown factors of weather.
