This evening our power went out at 20 minutes before 8.00 power was on all around us, so checked our main panel twice, still not on so I called Fortis – was told Cam would be here in a short while, sure enough he was here in 20 minutes but alone so we watched as he went up the ladder to check the equipment, it was the least we could do – a problem with the transformer had to go back to base get replacement and another crew member. They returned in less than an hour and worked (in the dark) with lights and got transformer replaced and power restored. Time elapsed maybe 2.5 hours at most.
Was glad to shake hand of both these guys who did an awesome job for just two households – that’s all that were effected by this equipment failure, on a Friday night.
Have never been a critic of Fortis as our power bill has never been questionable, have never been really critical about outages, usually because of a motor vehicle accident, obvious this one was not that and this evening was to me an example of how efficient they are. These guys go where and when they are needed, maybe they get overtime or whatever but their work does not come without risk – I realized this watching them this evening so thank you Fortis. Don’t take for granted what we have, yes we pay for it but there are without a doubt a lot of dedicated workers who ensure we get that service. Thank you Cam and your buddy, sorry didn’t get your name.
