The BC Archery Association is proud to announce the four athletes who will compete for Team BC in archery at the 2015 Canada Winter Games.
Tony Procter – Male Compound (Prince George)
Emerie Watson – Female Compound (Quesnel)
Levi Kelbert – Male Recurve (Kelowna)
Mya Schouwenburg – Female Recurve (Prince George)
Coaches:
Ron Ostermeier, Head Coach (Oliver)
Lind Price, Assistant Coach (Mission)
The process for selecting the team started more than a year ago when all of the hopefuls had to declare their intentions to try out for the team. The athletes were tested by shooting scores on the targets that will be used during the Games under the guidance of judges. From the scores, it was evident how the athletes were progressing.
“For the athletes that tried out for the Canada Winter Games, it was a true test of their dedication to the sport,” said head coach Ron Ostermeier (Oliver).
The final test event was held at the beginning of November in Oliver where the top eight recurve shooters and the top eight compound shooters were invited to come and show their stuff under competitive pressure. They shot the first day for ranking then during match play on the second day a team was selected based on their final standing.
