On December 5, 2014 the Oliver Detachment of the RCMP received a series of complaints of thefts from vehicles that had occurred overnight in the areas of Morningstar Road, Rockcliffe Road and Fairview Road. All of the scenarios were the same in that they occurred overnight, the vehicles were unlocked and property of value was left in the vehicle. This media release is a reminder to the public that their support with regard to securing their vehicles and not leaving valuable property in their vehicle when left unattended is most appreciated.
In attempting to answer the question of one ODN reader – Sgt. Ken Harrington says: ” On the representation that the RCMP don’t work weekends or answer voice mail (VM) I think everyone knows that we work every day but not every hour of every day.
Public should phone and ‘stay on the line’ for Kelowna dispatch who always answer – they do not have VM. If the public gets to VM they have called the wrong #. The best way to keep your property safe is to secure your property. “
