A 34-year-old West Kelowna man has been charged with a number of offences after weapons and drugs were found in a backpack during a court appearance this summer.
On August 28, 2014, the Kelowna RCMP received a report of weapons at the Kelowna Law Courts located at 1355 Water Street. A 34-year-old West Kelowna man attending for a court appearance had brought a backpack into the building but refused to allow the BC Sheriff Services to conduct a search. The bag was later located abandoned on courthouse property and found to contain a small switch blade, a knife, a can of bear spray, an extendable baton, two multi-tools, 13.8 grams of marihuana, 14 grams of hash and 3 tablets of Hydromorph Contin along with a variety of drug paraphernalia.
As a result of the investigation, Robert THOMPSON (34) of West Kelowna was charged with Breach of Recognizance, 3 counts of Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and 2 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance. He is scheduled to appear in Court on December 29, 2014.
