An officer attended, locating and rousing the 48 year old homeless male who stated he was sleeping in the park as he did not have any place to go. The BC Ambulance Service was contacted and an ambulance attended to examine the male as he was complaining of pain in his rib area. Subsequent to this assessment, the male declined transport to hospital. The male was deemed sober and able to care for himself. As such, he was allowed to continue on his way. The attending officer encouraged the male to head north to Penticton as cold weather was expected and due to his lack of permanent residency, the men’s shelter in that community would be his best option. The male agreed and stated he would make his way north.
