On November 25, 2014 at approximately 6:21 am, emergency crews responded to a pedestrian-involved collision at the intersection of Fairview Road and Highway 97 (Main Street) in Oliver, BC.
A 73-year-old woman from Oliver was apparently attempting to cross Main Street when she was struck by a northbound vehicle. According to witnesses, shortly after the initial contact, a second northbound vehicle struck the pedestrian who was now lying on the road. The second vehicle continued northbound and did not stop.
Tragically, first responders found the woman deceased at the scene. She has since been identified as Betty ANSTEY of Oliver.
A 46-year-old man from Oliver has been identified as a suspect in connection with this fatal crash. He attended the Oliver RCMP detachment Tuesday night and has been released without charges pending further investigation.
