Good News on National Park
MLA, Dan Ashton presented his “Report on Budget 2015 Consultations”, to members of the Legislative Assembly last Thursday.
Mr. Ashton chairs the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services.
The committee has recommended to, “Work with the federal government and local stakeholders to assess the feasibility of and support for the establishment of a new national park in the South Okanagan –Similkameen”.
The South Okanagan Chamber heartily applauds the committee’s recommendation, and will continue to lobby for the talks to resume.
The BC Chamber’s Policy and Positions manual also recommended to:
- Explore ways to change the Property Transfer Tax to assist first-time home buyers and consider ways to mitigate the effects of property speculation on housing affordability.
- Continue to maintain the current income tax rates for BC credit unions.
The finance committee also recommended them in the report.
