A Keremeos man responsible for a number of mailbox thefts in the South Okanagan was sentenced in a Penticton court Monday.
The sentence for Michael Stanley Minchau, handed down by Judge Meg Shaw, is time served since his arrest, which is 270 days.
He also received two years probation and has to pay a $2,000 victim surcharge fee.
Minchau was sentenced after pleading guilty to several charges including the mailbox thefts and causing a person to use a forged document.
He was arrested in January along with a 27 year old women – dealt with previously. RCMP said at the time they were picked up after being accused of taking license plates from a vehicle in Olalla.
Further investigation revealed the pair could be responsible for other thefts and break ins, including mail thefts in Keremeos and surrounding areas.
