Press Release – For Immediate Release
Mayoral Candidate-to-be Sanders was sadly disappointed when, 25 minutes before the official 4pm, October 10th deadline for candidate nominations at City Hall, his application to run for Mayor of Penticton was denied. Citing the fact that a candidate must be a “person” in order to qualify, official representatives refused him entry to run in the 2014 electoral race.
“I have a website. I have a platform. I was willing to pay the fees. I guess I just don’t understand their reasoning. I’ve always lived with people – I’ve always considered myself to BE a person” commented Sanders in a post-denial interview on the steps of City Hall, “I guess it was more of a shock to me than anything else, that the City Of Penticton does not view me as a suitable candidate just because I am not “a person”. And what IS a person, really?”
Sanders finished by saying “It’s unfortunate that we, as a society, place so little value on the lives of cats. Cats are important parts of our families – of our eco-systems, of our society as a whole.”
Sanders’ platform includes the rescue of as many feral cats & kittens as possible throughout the Okanagan Valley. More details of his campaign and his goals as mayor can be found on his website www.SandersForMayor.com
