Rob Zandee has confirmed Friday that he will run for re-election as school trustee for the Okanagan Similkameen Board of Education.

Over the past three years, Zandee has provided support for the progressive development of students through better overall transparency and interactions with students and teachers to understand the needs of our children.

His platform centers around supporting the interests and ambitions of children. Zandee has also been vocal on the importance of student learning, acknowledging the crucial role of educators, responding to the concerns of our citizens, and advocating on behalf of students’ needs.

“As a father of a child in our education system, I want nothing more than a public education system that prepares all of our students for the 21st century and inspires them: not only to learn, but also to contribute to society,” said Zandee.

Zandee is running for school trustee in school district No. 53. Through his experience in professional leadership, volunteer experience in education management, business, politics, and not-for-profit organizations, Zandee believes that he is the right person for the job.

Currently serving his first term as school trustee, Zandee has significant experience under his belt. He has served as a member of the board for the Okanagan Labour Relations Council, as a member of SD. 53’s finance and facilities committee and the Board’s representative voice to BCPSEA. Zandee is also a passionate advocate for anti-bullying initiatives, implementation of technology in the classroom, and experimental learning in conjunction with a strong foundation in numeracy and literacy.

“It has been an honour and privilege to serve as one of the two trustees from Oliver,” said Zandee. “I will continue to work hard, to engage with our teachers, parents and students, and continue to serve Oliver and the Southern Okanagan/Similkameen with energy, leadership, and fresh perspectives.”
