Further update: On Friday last week (10th October), there was a major water line break on 10th and Maple Street in the lower zone of the Okanagan Falls Irrigation District.
The leak has now been repaired, but the entire town centre area is on a boil water advisory while the district flushes and disinfects the system.
During the water shut down in the lower zone, drinking water will be available at the Well #4 site on Commercial Drive (off of Oliver Ranch Road). Please take containers to this site and fill them for drinking water requirements.
Once the advisory has been lifted, this tap will be turned off.
Update: The repairs to the water main break in Okanagan Falls on Oct 10 have been completed.
To remove any sediment that may be in the lines, residents of OK Falls should run outside taps for several minutes.
Those people whose water service was disrupted are under a boil water advisory until the Irrigation District and Interior Health are certain there is no contamination in the system as a result of the break.
Bob Daly, chairman of the OK Falls Irrigation District said “the Irrigation District appreciates the Community’s patience during this difficult situation.”
Crews are working on Maple Street in Okanagan Falls to restore water to the community. A water break has left most of the townsite without water this morning.
The Okanagan Falls Irrigation District indicates that water should be restored later today.
