Thursday’s fire practice was a good time to invite the media to show off two pieces of equipment and the completed storage area at the east end of the hall. The hall has 8 bays and this new addition to store two pieces of equipment.
All of the expenditures part of current budgets.
The hall extension costing about $75,000. A new forestry truck at $75,000 and a used Hiab lift purchased at a cost of $15,000 from the Town of Oliver.
All of this capital funding shared by the Oliver Rural Fire Protection District and the Town of Oliver.
Oliver Mayor Ron Hovanes says a strong business case was made for the spending. Ernie Rotheisler of the Rural Fire Protection District says the new equipment will allow the department to become more efficient in fighting fires of all kinds.
