Council in Osoyoos has decided to hold a referendum on November 15th (Election Day) to seek assent from the voting public on the $5.9 million capital project. (New Firehall)
A counter petition process failed with 1019 valid signatures opposing the move.
Mayor Stu Wells had hoped for an early response but it failed and he says the new date for a vote – “It’s a bit off base with so many snowbirds gone by that time of the year”.
The AAP (Alternative Approval Process) showed that the electorate wanted an opportunity to vote on a ballot for such approval.
