We need your help!
A Calgary developer has applied for a zoning variance to build 10 two story duplex units right on Tuc-el-Nuit lake within 15 meters of the shoreline (i.e. half the normal riparian setback)
Issues and Concerns:
The proposed development is not compliant with the density limitations and rules for locating duplex developments set out in the Oliver Town Plan and Town Council has not put in place the measures necessary to protect the biodiversity of the lake.
Council should be minimizing the number of people living on Tuc-el-Nuit Lake and preserving it for the use and enjoyment of all residents – not increasing the density of lakefront development – particularly now with global warming threatening to harm the lake’s fragile ecosystems.
How can you help?
Join us at the public hearing at Elks Hall on Tuesday, October 14 – 5:00 pm (open house at 4:00 pm).
Bring your family, friends and neighbours. Bring your grandchildren – this issue is critically important to their future use and enjoyment of our treasured lake.
Further Information:
I am a long term Oliver resident living adjacent to the proposed high intensity lakefront development.
I would be pleased to discuss this with you further and can be contacted at alberthudec@gmail.com or at 778 886 9356.
