The voters of Area C in the Southern Okanagan Regional District will have more than one choice in this Novembers’ election. Rick Knodel, a life-long Area C resident, whose family were early founders of the region, has filed his nomination papers. Knodel is endeavoring to bring a fresh approach to the area, one that is not encumbered by any past political alliances. Knodel has strong views on rural life and the farming businesses that go with it.
“I believe that the concerns of Area C rural land owners and farmers have been down played and at times out right ignored. I do believe that we are paying too much attention to bans, restrictions and regulations that may be necessary in urban areas, but are very unwelcome and hindering in our rural area.”
Knodel vows to review and work for compromise on several issues including: signage, water rights, burning and building permits. “I have heard from a broad selection of the areas’ residents and like most people, the residents of Area C have their thoughts on these issues and they don’t believe they are being heard, respected or in some cases even considered.”
