I would like to pass some information along to you regarding burning within the Town of Oliver and the Oliver rural area
For burning in town you have to have over 1/2 acre land size and prunings only are permitted, no garbage, construction material or plastic . Then you have to get a permit from the fire department.
For burning out of town you need to call forestry for a permit number, then before burning call 490 4125 for venting . You can then burn if venting is ok.
The number for forestry burning permits 1 888 336 7378
If every one follows these guidelines, it will prevent any unnecessary call outs of the Fire Department, and help us to be ready and available to respond in the event of a real emergency.
Open burning is not permitted until after October 16th with a permit.
Thank you for your assistance
Rob Graham, spokesman for the Oliver Fire Department.
