
Osoyoos RCMP Detachment have received two complaints of cougar sightings this week.
On Monday, September 29 around 8:30 pm a call was received of a cougar siting near Magnolia Place (Destiny Beach Resort) in Osoyoos The cougar was chased off by a dog who came back uninjured but with blood on his mouth. Patrols of the area were negative and the local schools were advised.
On Tuesday, September 30 around 11:30 pm. a local lady walking her dog on the East Bench in Osoyoos around 39th St. and 38th Ave. encountered a cougar standing in front of her. The cougar stood its ground growling for approximately 15 minutes and only retreating after stones were thrown at it.
There may have been an additional cougar sighting this week in the same area which was not reported to Police.
BC Conservation Service have been advised.
Police are asking all residents to take care and be vigilant when walking especially with young children and pets.
