The man accused of setting fire to the City Hall in Grand Forks has pled guilty to arson.
Andre Robert Conn, 32, made that choice at the courthouse in Rossland and will be sentenced in November.
Conn was taken into custody shortly after the fire broke out on Sept. 19, 2013.
He was charged with break and enter, arson, possession of incendiary materials and possession of break-in instruments.
Interesting the fire occurred while council was at the UBCM convention and this news comes out at the same time – one year later. The 103-year-old building suffered significant damage to its front entrance.
The civic building was originally used as a post office before becoming city hall in 1981.
