The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man
who died after a motor vehicle incident in Summerland on Sept. 22,
2014.

He is Gildo Vit, aged 77, of Summerland.

Mr. Vit was a pedestrian crossing Highway 97 in Summerland shortly
after 10 a.m. on Sept. 22, 2014, when, near the intersection of
Steuart Street, he was in a collision with a southbound tractor-
trailer. Mr. Vit was immediately transported to Penticton Regional
Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival at
hospital.

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.

Mr. Vit’s family has been notified of his death. On behalf of family
members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their
privacy at this difficult time.
