All alternative approval process elector response forms must be received by the Corporate Officer, 8707 Main Street, Box 3010, Osoyoosn on or before 4:30pm on October 3, 2014 to be considered.
The number of electors of the Town of Osoyoos is estimated to be 4,740. If 10% (474) of the estimated number of electors of the Town of Osoyoos sign an Alternative Approval Process Elector Response Form opposing the borrowing of funds for the fire hall – Town Council will not be able to proceed without receiving the assent of the electors by referendum.
At the first meeting of October – Town of Osoyoos residents will hear the results of the Alternative Approval Process APP.
Sources say the number of people on the petition will necessitate a referendum sometime in the future.
Exact details of that process will be worked out by staff and council. The referendum could be held this year or early next year depending on a legal issue and permission from the provincial government.
The AAP process was thought to be a quicker way of getting assent but not so – this time around.
