1. Trails Corridor – Permission granted by directors to seek tenure (License of Occupation) for a four metre wide strip of former KVR land in the Road 19 (Oliver) to 296th Avenue (Osoyoos) area – adding to the RDOS trails corridor. Staff at the regional district are looking to expand on the present 258 km trail. The additions are in Area A and C. The province will be asked to turn over this land to local control.
2. Trails Equipment – Directors also gave permission for the purchase of a tractor mower and trailer for all trails maintenance. Some discussion on how this increases the capacity of a Parks division to accomplish more within a jurisdiction of Princeton to Osoyoos to Naramata.
3. Home site severance – An application for a home site severance on a parcel of land at Miller Rd and Ryegrass Rd in Oliver did not get far and was sent back to the Area C Planning Committee for review. Directors voted twice on the idea – once in the negative and once in the positive and both motions failed. The land passed on from one family member to another – owned by Andre and Maria Miller.
4. Penticton Hospital Expansion – It will take 20 million dollars just to plan and procure equipment for the new Tower. The Okanagan Similkameen Regional Hospital District today approved their share of that – $8 million to be taken from reserves and given to Interior Health. Full speed ahead on the Tower. 3 companies will be announced in November that will be scrutinized before a contractor is announced.
5. Museum – the new Osoyoos facility will be built with joint services funding of both the Town and Rural District. The RDOS today gave the green light to the expenditures of $17,929 on two items – design development and a military collection visible display storage unit.
