When we installed our 6Kw solar system last year and turned it on Nov 15th we weren’t sure what to expect. According to our GPS location, angle of the panels etc. It was projected that we would generate 6.6 megawatts per year and probably save $800 to $1000 per year.
WELL….. here we are on Sept 12th, 10 months into the program and today we hit 6.6 mega watts. Yesterday I looked at our hydro bills and comparing to last year we have saved $1175 so far this year. and comparing to 2012 we are $1100 less. Our best 2 month bill came in Aug and it was $2.86!! That was after the hydro company couldn’t figure out a negative meter reading! Our latest 2 month bill was $79 and $30 of that was the customer charge.
Our best day was June 5th when we generated 45 kWh. August was lower because of the 256,000 acre wild fire south of us in Washington and the sun was smoke hazed most od the month.
Looking forward to Nov 15th when we can see our years generation and our years savings.
