The Oliver and District Heritage Society has recently welcomed a new member to their team.
Julianna Weisgarber, of Prince George, BC, started as the Collections Manager on Tuesday, September 2nd.
Julianna (pictured above) will be working closely with the Community Heritage Manager to ensure that the artifacts and archive documents stored at the Museum and Archives are well cared for and displayed properly.
“I am very happy to be starting work at the Oliver & District Museum. I love discovering the exciting history of Oliver and the old town of Fairview, and I feel very fortunate to be working with Pamela, the board, and the museum’s dedicated volunteers. This is a great part of the province, and the people here seem wonderful. Both the museum and the town have a unique history, and I am thrilled to be able to share that history with visitors.”
Julianna graduated from the University of Sydney with a Masters of Museum Studies with a focus on Collections Management. Prior to accepting this position, she worked at the Railway and Forestry Museum in Prince George BC in a variety of positions. Due to her education and experience she has a wide array of skills which will be very useful in her new position.
The staff and board look forward to working with Julianna as we move forward with our collections projects, programming and community outreach. We are confident that Julianna will be a strong asset to our team. If you would like to introduce yourself, please visit Julianna at the Museum during our open hours of Thursday to Saturday (10am to 4pm).
