Dale Lahaise passed away August 14th at the age of 58. He is survived by his wife Michelle, son Keegan, and daughter Katharine all of North Vancouver; his mother Carley, brother Wade (Connie), sisters Shelley and Cindy, nieces , nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by his father John and son Michael.
Dale attended school in Osoyoos and graduated from SOSS in 1974. Dale served in the Canadian Armed Forces, Military Police, including deployments to Cypress, Germany and Iran; where he was part of the operation to protect and evacuate the six American Diplomats being sheltered by the Canadian Embassy in the 1980 Iran Hostage Crisis. Dale later obtained his commission as a Naval Officer, MARS.
After 9 years as a regular member and 5 years as a reservist, Dale retired from the Canadian Forces. At the time of his death, he was a Staff Sergeant with 26 years of service with the B.C. Sheriff Service.
Dale was the recipient of many awards and medals for his work and his volunteer activities including Long Service Medals from the Air Cadet League of Canada, and Scouts Canada. More recently he was awarded the The Chief Sheriff Commendation, and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal.
A memorial will be held at the Port Coquitlam and District Hunting and Fishing Club, 5000 Harper Road, Coquitlam B.C. on Sunday September 14, 2014 at 2:00pm
