Boonstock Productions Inc. utilized SurveyMonkey.net to deploy an online survey targeted at Boonstock Music Festival 2014 attendees in order to gain knowledge of the spending habits of our patrons, as well as amass feedback on the event itself. From August 25 through August 29th, 2014, 2,505 respondents provided 67,017 answers to 22 questions rendering all results (both primary and subset questions) to a margin of error within + or – 2% ninety nine times out of one hundred.
OUT OF REGION VISITOR SPENDING
The Festival counted 8,621 unique attendees over the three and one half day period. 85.96% (7,306) traveled from outside the Penticton region to the Event. The average length of stay in penticton is 4.7 nights. 64.3% (5,466) of these overnighters stayed in our Festival campground and 11.26% (957) used commercial accommodations – 3.45% (293) at other campgrounds or RV sites, 6.81% (578) at area hotels or motels, and 1% (85) in home or condo rentals. Aggregate spending in other secondary industries were: Restaurants and Bars – $1,130,500 & Supplies and Shopping – $1,300,500. All secondary industry spending in the Penticton region totaled $2,431,000 or $286 per visitor.
ECONOMIC IMPACT

The total expenses for the Event were $4,289,158, with local expendatures of $2,100,000, including wages and salaries of $280,000.
