V-Day is a global initiative created by Eve Enslerto raise awareness and funding for the end of violence against women and girls. V-Day Oliver Osoyoos is headed into our third year, and we couldn’t be more excited.
After months of hard work from over 60 dedicated volunteers and participants, the amounts raised in our 2014 campaign have been finalized. The process took a little longer than we anticipated due to extenuating and unforeseen circumstances; however we are thrilled to make our announcement and give our whole hearted thanks to everyone who made this possible.
With combined proceeds from our ‘Stop the Violence’ art show, and our production of ‘A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and a Prayer’, we were able to raise the following:
Top: Pat Monahan, Desert Sun Board Member, Tiffany Beckedorf, and MMRP co-director Aimee Grice.
Above: ONTEH’s Executive Director Jan Lipscome, V-Day Oliver-Osoyoos Lead Organizer Tiffany Beckedorf and Community Outreach Worker Cindy Nelson.
$6,131.72 for Desert Sun Counselling and Resource Center, to be dedicated to Men’s Counselling programs in an effort to end domestic violence against women and children.
$734.00 for the Okanagan Nation Emergency Transition House, and
$734.00 for V-Day.
We also received over $14,000 in in-kind donations, prize and raffle donations and so on. What an amazing community we live in! Over the last two campaigns we have raised $13,531.41 for local initiatives to stop violence against women and girls, an achievement that all of our volunteers, sponsors and supporters should be extremely proud of.
